Product description

The go-to watershoe for those wanting a less bulky option for keeping their feet warm and protected. The Freestyle's softer sole gives excellent feeling and response, making them perfect for SUP and surfski. Take a page out of the freestyle kayaking handbook and wear the NRS Freestyle Wetshoe. A favorite of playboaters, the Freestyle (used to be called the Desperado Sock) gives you warmth and protection in a compact, flexible package.

  • A sustainable alternative to traditional neoprene, petroleum-free Terraprene neoprene is made from limestone and recycled tires.

  • Constructed with 3 mm thick neoprene upper for maximum warmth with a 3 mm neoprene insole for added comfort.

  • Stretchy rubber support bands improve lateral stability while a 1.5 mm textured rubber outsole provides protection and optimal grip.

  • Cush graphene-infused interior provides thermal-conductive properties for more warmth while also reducing water retention.

  • The HydroCuff™ hugs the ankle tight to prevent excess water from dripping in.

  • Reinforced at the toe and heel for long-lasting durability.

  • Features an ankle pull tab to help slip the bootie on and off.

They fit well. Perhaps just a little on the big side. They feel great and keep your feet warm.

I finally found a bootie that would fit in my short cockpit. I sized up 2 sizes so I could get my drysuit socks, wool socks and a Hydroskin sock inside. If you’re worried about getting the correct size, buy 2 pair and send one back. I love these! They keep the sand out too.

NRS rocked it! Perfect winter kayaking boot. It fits nicely under my drysuit gasket!

I needed flexible and non-bulky footwear for a cramped kayak (NDK Latitude). These wet shoes are perfect as most of the places I paddle have sandy bottoms. They allow me to feel the foot pegs.

I have two pair of older, more heavy-duty, NRS wetshoes. I use a size 14 when I wear my dry suit with socks and a pair of size 13 for when I am just using a dry top and shorts. These work well, except that they make for a tight fit in my kayaks. A couple of months ago, I bought a pair of size 12 NRS Freestyle wetshoes. These fit me perfectly (my normal shoe size is 12.5) and much improved my comfort in my kayaks. I was concerned that they wouldn't hold up as well as the heavy-duty wetshoes which I have had for more than 10 years. However, after spending the last month of the Colorado kayaking season in them, along with a week-long trip on the Main Salmon I can honestly say that I haven't seen any consequential wear on them. The one thing you should be aware of is that these wetshoes have a lighter sole and therefore you can feel the rocks more when walking or scouting. All in all, I am very pleased with these and would recommend them to anyone wanting a lighter wetshoe.

I bought these to replace an earlier pair in thicker neoprene that had velcro straps. The old ones were certainly tougher. This "wetshoe" is extremely comfortable and breathable, but I worry that I'm going to rip it when pulling over an already wet foot. (It's probably best to roll it up the foot like a sock). A better pull-loop in the back would have been reassuring. But these are generally well-made and may also serve well for spring fording of mountain streams, since the tread is good.

These wetshoes are fantastic! Easy to slip on and off - keep my feet warm and the grip on the bottom is great on the beach and rocks. They do take some time to dry completely.
