The weed deflector is installed in front of your rudder to stop weeds, grass or fishing line etc. from catching on your rudder and slowing you down. The small weed guard is for universal rudders, for all other rudders (roughwater weedless, weedless and surf) use the large weed guards. The universal rudder will not work with a large weed guard!

Weed guards need to be epoxied onto the boat with a waterproof “marine” grade epoxy.
